Season 14 of the Live Chess World League started on 7th September 2025 on chess.com.
England is again taking part with a team from the ECF Open Club.
There are five divisions in the league. England are in Division 3W with each round consisting of a blitz (5|2) and a rapid (10|2) chess.com match with two games against the opposing team member in each match. Registration is open to all ECF (Open) club members with players allocated to boards in chess.com rating order. The competition consists of 10 rounds split into two stages – stage 1 which runs as a seven round all play all within an eight team division and stage 2 where each team plays the other three teams in their half of the division. Matches are played weekly on Sundays with stage 1 due to complete by 16th November.
Matches are based on2 chess.com team challenges – each with two games against the opposing board as follows:
Blitz 5min+2sec
Rapid 10min+2sec
We are currently close to the end of Stage 1 with matches remaining against Team Nigeria and Team Chile.
Our rd 6 LCWL match against Team Nigeria will start at 8-00 pm on Saturday 15/11. This will be played over two legs as follows:

We won last week’s match against Team Canada Live and are now second in the div 3W table, 1.5 points behind Team USA who have now completed all their fixtures. We have two fixtures left – tomorrow’s against Team Nigeria and our final fixture against Team Chile which is still to be arranged.
In the second stage which starts in November the top (championship pool) and bottom halves of each division will play in separate all play alls with final points calculated across the two stages. Division 3W and 3E champions are then promoted to division 2 for next season.
Registration is open from an hour before the start time of each leg for ECF club members. Do join us if you can to see if we can continue the winning run and get through to the championship pool in stage 2 with as many stage 1 points as we can!
