Internationals

♟chess.com Nations League Season 3

We tied in both segments of our Nations League match on chess.com against Jamacia which we rescheduled for Sunday evening. We had some very close fought games – well played team and thanks to everyone who took part.

Season 3 continues with our third fixture against Poland at the weekend with the usual rapid and blitz segments. The matches will be played at 5-00 and 6-15 on Sunday afternoon. The event links will be published on the upcoming club events page and via Twitter shortly. Players registering for the England team will be allocated a board for each segment and will play two games with colours reversed against the opposing team member with the same board number. The team score is based on the results for all boards with defaults awarded for any of the top 10 boards if there is no opponent.

lichess Internationals / Mega Team Battles
The English Chess Players team is continuing with various friendly internationals as well as participating in 4 regular lichess leagues / series  – these matches are open to all lichess English Chess Players club members.

11th lichess Mega Team Battle – The next Mega Team Battle will be at 5-00 pm on Friday 2nd July. Registration is open now at the link here: https://lichess.org/tournament/K9Q389u0
This is a lichess organised weekly event and includes around 200 teams in one of the largest team battles on the platform.
England Friendlies  – Once again we won our match against Turkey on Saturday afternoon and have been invited to a further rematch this time at 3-00 pm on Sunday 28th June at the link here: https://lichess.org/tournament/G2xVtY29

🎙▶  Bundesliga/ Quarantane League  – We finished 7th in our first fixture in Liga 3B on Sunday 20th at the link here:  https://lichess.org/tournament/koQQ3LtQ – and 4th in the fixture Thursday 24th June here:    – A big thank you again to top scoring players GM Keith Arkell, GM Matthew Sadler and whimsicaljammed, and to everyone who joined us for the matches. Champions League – We came ninth in the Champions League team battle at 6:30 pm on Tuesday 22nd  June at the link here: https://lichess.org/tournament/M43iSlw0  – This was a 120 minute team battle at 3|0 with 26 National teams mostly from Europe, Africa and South America. The next round will be at 6:30 pm on Tuesday 29th June and we will publish the link on the lichess club home page once available.

Grand Prix

ECF Online Grand Prix – Entries are open or the ECF Online Blitz Grand Prix and ECF Online Rapid Grand Prix series on lichess. The events run monthly from March and are held at 2:00pm on the first Sunday of each month (for the Blitz Tournaments) and the third Sunday of each month (for the Rapid Tournaments). She Plays to Win

She Plays To Win is a UK Girls Chess Project supported by the ECF and led by England Women’s Coach IM Lorin D’Costa, to try and encourage more girls to participate and learn chess in a fun environment. This involves free 30 minutes training in the weekly group, and a tournament on the Lichess server afterwards. The links below provide details of the project, upcoming events and a joining form for parents looking to register on behalf of their daughters.

The English Juniors team runs fortnightly events on Thursday at 6.00pm with occasional matches against other countries. ECF Online Ratings
All club events and other ECF-registered events are ECF online rated at the relevant time control (Standard, Rapid or Blitz).  The June online rating list is out now with results to end of May.
